Every Stock Show Exhibitor has a Mother.  Every Stock Show Parent has a Mother.  Yet, today 1 in 8 women will hear the fateful phrase, "You have breast cancer" at some point in their life.  Many of us in our Industry are either directly, or indirectly affected by this terrible disease.

I cannot tell you how many women have shared their story, their journey, with me.  It's hundreds.  Many have won.  Some have not.  I also have had hundreds of family members share their first hand experiences with me.  Each story is unique.  Each person's account is their own.  Each is traumatic, and stays with them for the rest of their life.

Breast Cancer is personal to me.  My mother is a Breast Cancer Survivor.  My "Like A Mother" ultimately succumbed to cancer which started with Breast Cancer.  My story, my memories are personal and still raw.  It is no accident that when you see me at a Show, I am always wearing a pink shirt.  I wear that shirt for women; Stock Show Moms, Grandmothers, Aunts, Sisters and Like A Moms.  But I also wear it for the Stock Show Girls, and I hope that every one of them NEVER becomes 1 of the 8 women afflicted by this disease.

Today, there is hope for every woman that is diagnosed with Breast Cancer.  Treatment has come a long way.  But not far enough.  I want to find better, and more effective treatments.  But my hope is that we eradicate Breast Cancer all together.

For several years our company has run a Breast Cancer Awareness promotion.  This year is no different.  We ask that you purchase $5.00 contributions which we will give to the Susan G Komen Foundation.  Our company will match your contribution, dollar for dollar, up to $5,000

This year has been, and continues to be a tough one.  We have spent considerable sums of money supporting shows to keep our industry alive.  While that has been important to us, so is this.  It's important to make a difference in the world.  It's important to further the research that leads to the eradication of this disease.  It's important for the many aspects of what the Susan G Komen Foundation does that helps the women and the families impacted by Breast Cancer.  It's important because if you don't have a personal story to tell about Breast Cancer, you are in the minority.

If you don't think $5.00 will make a difference, remember this.  Your $5.00 means the Foundation will receive $10.00.  If you can afford to make a $20.00 donation, we double it to $40.00.  Use us to leverage your donation.  Together, we can make a difference.
